    Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative to Provide $10-Million in COVID-19 Relief

    The Michigan Strategic Fund on Monday approved a $10-million grant program to help meet the urgent needs of small businesses disproportionately impacted the COVID-19 virus. The Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative will utilize federal CARES Act funding to award grants of up to $15,000 to small businesses across Michigan, with applications being available beginning December 15.Learn More

    Hello All!

    It seems appropriate we send out my final column on Giving Day. I hope you were able to join – even if only in a kind word. These are challenging times and every organization and business could use some help. Reach out, if you can, and contribute, buy, or just spread a good word. 

    This has been a trying year. I hope we have taken the time to reflect – reflect on our own circumstance, on our behaviors, and on our goals. We can change or tweak going forward. We can reach out with a helping hand, instead of a foul mouth. We can be the first to praise, rather than denigrate. We can help our community and its people become stronger. It is in OUR power to do this. I recognize it is not always easy – you can walk into a meeting for a charity and people are bullying in there! I know it's unbelievable, but they do.

    Chamber Honors Seven Member Businesses

    Seven businesses that went above and beyond helping the community during the onset of the pandemic were recently honored by the Chamber in its annual Celebration of Members.
     
    While state mandates prevented the organization from holding its fall dinner, which typically draws more than 100 business leaders, the award presentations were videotaped, now appearing on the Chamber’s Facebook page. 
     
    “Certainly these are unprecedented times,” said Kim MacGregor, Chamber president of Edward Jones. “However, we have persevered and we have some stories to tell.”
