Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility located at 420 W. High Street in Dowagiac.  It offers 24 / 7 emergency care, surgery, radiology, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, behavioral health and many other services. 

Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital is a health ministry within Borgess Health, which also includes Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo that is a part of Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the United States and the world's largest Catholic health system.  Borgess-Lee Hospital has served Dowagiac and Cass County residents since 1918.

The Gift Shop at Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital is easy to access just inside the hospital registration area. You will be delighted by the array of gifts including cozy throws and decorative pillows, candles, jewelry and seasonal gifts.  And most importantly, every purchase supports the hospital and its mission to provide high-quality care and comfort to its patients.  The Gift Shop is open Monday to Thursday 9 to 3, and most Friday mornings.

Caruso's Candy Kitchen

This full-line confectionery shop, which has been serving lunch since 1922, is best known for its old-fashioned soda fountain and hand-dipped chocolates.

When Antonio Caruso purchased the Chicago Candy Kitchen in 1922, he and his wife, Emilia, began a tradition that would span several generations in Dowagiac. Over the course of the next 45 years, the restaurant was managed with the help of their children - Josephine, Paul, Julia, Theresa and Tony. In 1969, Antonio handed the reins over to his son-in-law, William Rutherford, as Julia's husband and later their daughter, Mary (Rutherford) Myers, continued the family business.

Today, Caruso's is owned and operated by Theresa's daugher, Julie Sparks, as she works to ensure her Grandfather Antonio's legacy and the art of candy making will continue for many more generations to enjoy.

Caruso's is pleased to fill special orders and will ship its boxed candies across the country. In addition to its homemade chocolates, made with dark, milk and white chocolate, Caruso's is also known for its Almond Toffee, Vanilla Caramels, Pecan & Cashew Delites, Soft-center Homemade Creams and, of course, its holiday and seasonal candies

Creekside Greenhouse, conveniently located within the city limits, provides a selection of annuals, perrenials, ornamental grasses and ground cover.  Creekside also carries a variety of hostas and a small selection of bushes.  They are known for their generous-sized hanging baskets of annuals and fall mums, and their flats of marigolds and petunias.   Creekside opens the first weekend of May, with its season continuing through October.
