    Governor Whitmer Signs $106M Bipartisan Relief Bill and Extends Unemployment Benefits

     Last week, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed the bipartisan relief bill that the Michigan legislature passed after she urged them to provide support for Michigan families, frontline workers and small businesses.

    The relief bill includes $55-million to help small businesses impacted by COVID-19. Grants of up to $20,000 will be made available to small businesses across the state that need support this winter. The relief bill also includes $3.5-million for grants of up to $40,000 each for live music and entertainment venues, and includes $45-million in direct payments to workers who have been laid off or furloughed as a result of the virus.

    Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative to Provide $10-Million in COVID-19 Relief

    The Michigan Strategic Fund on Monday approved a $10-million grant program to help meet the urgent needs of small businesses disproportionately impacted the COVID-19 virus. The Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative will utilize federal CARES Act funding to award grants of up to $15,000 to small businesses across Michigan, with applications being available beginning December 15.Learn More

    Chamber Honors Seven Member Businesses

    Seven businesses that went above and beyond helping the community during the onset of the pandemic were recently honored by the Chamber in its annual Celebration of Members.
     
    While state mandates prevented the organization from holding its fall dinner, which typically draws more than 100 business leaders, the award presentations were videotaped, now appearing on the Chamber’s Facebook page. 
     
    “Certainly these are unprecedented times,” said Kim MacGregor, Chamber president of Edward Jones. “However, we have persevered and we have some stories to tell.”
