Prior to starting her business, Laura built a public relations resume working in four major industry sectors: healthcare, higher education, nonprofits, and government and political campaigns. Most recently, she led the digital marketing and branding efforts for LSU’s College of Engineering, the largest academic college in the state. Laura earned a B.A. in Mass Communication from LSU in 2010, a Certificate of Web Design from LSU Continuing Education in 2016, and her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2018, an internationally recognized professional designation that fewer than two percent of PR professionals possess.

    Flash Back to 1989, as Renovation Work on China Garden Begins

    When Larry Seurynck began power washing the front facade of China Garden, flashbacks to 1989 came to mind for Front Street business owners, who witnessed the initial wave of renovation work 31 years ago.
     
    Larry was there too. And so was the Downtown Development Authority.
     
    When contractor after contractor said they were booked for the next six to 12 months, Vickie Phillipson, DDA and Chamber of Commerce program director, asked Larry to come out of retirement. Who better to work on the property, owned by Zhen & Jenny Yang, than the person that once owned and originally renovated these two storefronts and three others on Front Street.

    Deadline is Friday for New Grant Funding for Workplace Safety

    As businesses are doing their best to protect customers, employees and communities, they’re not just winging it. Every decision has to be made with safety in mind and a new grant program will help them cover expenses to do so.
     
    Applications are now available for the Michigan COVID-19 Safety Grant Program, a new initiative launched by the State of Michigan Labor and Economic Opportunity Department that will provide small businesses matching funds of up to $10,000 to decrease the risk of COVID-19 spread through safety and health-related equipment purchased and training in response to COVID-19.
