    Business After Hours, Standing Room Only at Wood Fire

    As the Pompii Room at Wood Fire Italian Trattoria swelled to capacity Feb. 6 with the influx of people arriving for the Chamber’s Business After Hours, it was a moment of     reflection and great pride for both co-owner Kevin Hanner and Mayor Don Lyons.

    “I am honored and humbled by the turnout, and happy to recognize many of you as my customers,” Kevin said. Having purchased the restaurant and later moving to the community seven months ago, Kevin said he looks forward to many years of being here. He’s   already putting his touches on the restaurant with the addition of a fireplace, refinished oak floors, and the intriguing and oversized photographs depicting the community’s rich history.

    Now’s the Time to Start Thinking Spring Building Maintenance

    In a small community, curb appeal can determine the ability of a business to not only survive in today’s marketplace, but to also thrive.

    These last long days of winter offer building owners an opportunity to take a good look at their property to decide what maintenance or renovation is needed once spring arrives.

    While many of our downtown buildings have been renovated, some are showing significant wear and tear, such as rotting window trim, peeling paint, bricks in need of tuck pointing and, in some cases, faded and worn awnings.
